What is it?

It's flying

Skydivers love freefall because it's the closest possible thing to true human flight. Now everyone can experience the same exhilaration, in a safe environment, in full view of family and friends! Skydivers will freefall through the air at speeds of 120mph and up.

SkyVenture is a vertical wind tunnel, where we bring the wind to you! You'll float on a cushion of air within feet of your instructor. By studying the same body movements that skydivers use, you can learn to perform aerobatic maneuvers and, with experience, even fly in groups!

Beginners who might be apprehensive about airplanes and parachutes or a fear of heights will find that SkyVenture is the perfect place to experience human flight, without all the risk. You'll fly safely within a few feet of the floor, and will have expert instruction right by your side, for your entire session.

For those of you familiar with skydiving, you'll find that perfecting your skills with a coach at your side is a much more productive and cost-effective way to learn.

Whether you are a beginner who's curious about the sensation of freefall, or a professional competitive skydiver, SkyVenture provides the perfect environment for your ultimate enjoyment!

Observation deck

All are welcome to visit our observation deck, free of charge. Such a new and interesting activity might be hard to imagine for some, but a short visit should do the trick!

Flight times are often booked in advance, so if you wish to fly, reservations are encouraged.

The history of indoor body flight

The US Military began building vertical wind tunnels for freefall training in 1964.

In 1982, the first tunnels for the general public opened in Tennessee and Las Vegas. While these tunnels were great fun, they only approximated true freefall, and were difficult to master.

In the years to follow, tunnel flyers began advancing their skills quickly. These "tunnel rats", as they are affectionate called, began to dominate skydiving competitions. It became clear that tunnels were the ultimate training method, and the quest to design one that would more accurately simulate freefall was born.

In 1998, the call was answered when the world's most advanced vertical wind tunnel tunnel was opened as SkyVenture Orlando in Florida. It has been operating there ever since with fantastic success, and a great safety record.

SkyVenture was designed with safety, speed, and efficiency from day one. It is leaps and bounds beyond previous designs; even the US Military has adopted SkyVenture technology. SkyVenture's design provides very fast, smooth air from wall to wall, making it safer and easier to learn in, at airspeeds equivalent to those achieved by the world's fastest competitive skydivers.

These days, tunnel time is a critical training element for competitive skydivers. Jumpers who would once be happy for 10 minutes of total practice per day of real skydiving can now train for hours, taking the sport to a new and more exciting level.
